The August Adventures

Well it's only two months overdue, but here's where I recite a few accounts of our summer journey through the mountains.  It's not that it wasn't worth writing about; it's that as summer came to an end there was pressure to take advantage of the last moments of good weather instead of sitting on a computer in my spare time.  Well, the rain has finally arrived, and so has the time to put a few thoughts down.

The August Adventures of Team Krimo, as perceived by Kristen:

We started our August escapades with a rough plan to climb Mt. Assiniboine, Mt. Sir Donald and spend some time in the Bugaboos, feeding our rock addiction with routes suitable to our style.

Mt Matier

Well, after a great trip up to Mt Garibaldi, we decided on Mt Matier in the Joffrey group.

We hiked up to the Cherise Creek hut relatively late on Saturday and enjoyed the hut atmosphere. The mosquitoes were horrendous so we were stuck inside the hut. There were two large families who came up with their grandmother to celebrate her 80th b-day. Way to go lady!

The First Day of my 28th Year

We start this next adventure with a few ideas tossed around about what to do for my (Kristen) birthday. I decided there had been lots of partying in previous months, and I felt like there just hadn't been enough time spent in the mountains - so that's where I wanted to go!

We decided finally on Mount Garibaldi, the peak that looms over Squamish and has been taunting me every year that I have lived here. The funny thing about it is that the major peak you see from Squamish is actually called Atwell, Garibaldi is slightly higher, but hidden behind the stunning ridge formation of Atwell. 800px-mount_garibaldi1

Squamish here we are

E-mail Print PDF

After coming back from South America, I had to attend to business for a few weeks in Vernon and Kristen started her landscaping job right away. We were back in our working life and wondering what the heck happened to our time off...

I was quite sad to leave Vernon. Not so much the town, but definitely all the wonderful people there. Over the years I have crossed may paths and some of them have intertwined in wonderful ways. Friendships that come from the heart. Meaningful and real. But love calls and there is no way escaping that call. (not that i really want to anyways)

So off I go with a sad feeling. But really, I mean, lets face it, Vernon is great, but compared to the Squamish playground there is no comparison. And since coming here a few weeks ago, the adventures just didn't stop. There are so many climbs to be climbed, trails to be ridden and new sports to be learned. And after a few parties, I discovered that there are actually some wonderful people here too.

So on we go, wandering into this new episode of our wonderful lives together.

Make sure to check out the photos of the Squamish adventure.
